At False Bay Fitness, we know starting something new can feel a little intimidating. That’s why we’ve put together this friendly guide to answer the questions we hear most often.
1. What do I need to bring with me?
Just yourself, a water bottle, and a towel. We’ve got all the equipment covered. Comfortable workout clothes and trainers are best.
2. Are there showers?
Yes! We have showers and bathrooms available so you can freshen up before heading to work or home.
3. What’s the difference between PureFit and Strength & Skill classes?
• PureFit: A fun, sweaty workout that combines cardio and strength for all-round fitness. Great for anyone who wants to get fitter, leaner, and improve endurance. Workouts include non technical movements with free weights like dumbbells or kettlebells.
• Strength & Skill: Focuses more on technique, lifting, gymnastics and building strength over time. You’ll learn new movements and improve your form.
4. Which class is best if I’m a beginner?
While PureFit can sometimes seem like the easiest, less daunting entry point, a strength and skill class provides more coaching and less cardio making it a smoother transition if you haven't been to a fitness class in a while. With that said, every class is beginner friendly, and our coaches are there to guide you.
5.Can my friend try out a class with me?
Absolutely! We love welcoming new faces. Just let us know ahead of time so we can book them in.
6.What is Open Gym?
Open Gym is your chance to train at your own pace. You’ll have access to our space and equipment outside of class times, perfect if you want to follow your own plan or add in extra work. All members have access to the gym outside of class times, however we have 5 spots available for ‘open gym’ during class times. These are available to members on Unlimited memberships and need to be booked.
Important note: while a class is on, the class takes priority over equipment use. We treat one another with respect by being aware of what will be needed by the class during our open sessions.
7. How are the classes set up?
Strength and skill: Classes usually start with a warm-up, then move into skill or strength work, followed by a main workout. You’ll always be guided by a coach, so you’ll know exactly what to do. workouts.
Purefit: Classes usually start off with a warm up to introduce all movements followed by 1,2 or 3 workouts.
8. What should I do if I want to lose weight?
The best results come from combining regular training with healthy eating and good sleep. Our classes will help you burn fat and build strength, and our coaches can give you simple nutrition and lifestyle tips to support your goals.
9. Can I do this if I’m pregnant? Yes, in most cases. Many of our members train through pregnancy. Please let your coach know so we can adapt movements and make sure you stay safe and comfortable. If you are currently pregnant, and have not done strength training, we recommend chatting through the options with a coach as well as your Dr.
10. What if I can’t do certain exercises?
No problem at all! Every workout can be scaled or adjusted. Your coach will always give you options that match your fitness level or mobility.
11. Do I need to be fit before I start?
No way! You are ready right now! We’re here to join you in the journey.
12. How do memberships work?
We have a debit order that runs on the 1st of each month. You can opt in for a 4 month membership, a 12 month membership or a 1 month unlimited membership. Early cancellation is one month's notice and R850.
13. Can I pause my membership?
Yes, we do understand that sometimes life is unpredictable, and we allow pausing of memberships. Pauses need to be minimum 4 weeks and maximum 8 weeks.
14. Do you have personal trainers?
Yes, we have amazing and knowledgeable personal trainers who run their own businesses from our facility. You are welcome to get hold of them directly to book sessions with them.
15. Do you offer nutrition advice?
We are not qualified nutritionists and would rather point you in the direction of someone reliable in the field. Get in touch with us if you’d like us to share their contact with you.
